This property helped to protect a familier view from State Road in Chilmark near the Aquinnah town line. It also helps to protect 3,300 feet of road frontage on State Road and 3,000 feet of frontage on Squibnocket Pond. Two marshes, two hilltops and portions of Gay Head's Herring Creek were also protected. This area was preserved thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Weston Howland, Jr. assisted by VOLF planning.

The scenic roadside is preserved from the top of the hill opposite the yellow victorian house to the running spring near the Aquinnah town line.
